Reward (Thawab) is the compensation for the good deeds the believer receives in the Hereafter; this compensation is pleasing to him. Punishment (^Adhab) is what disturbs the slave in the Hereafter for the sins he committed, such as entering Hellfire, as well as less severe punishments.
